The project.

Cross Platform designed the logo for Dee’s African Cuisine & Lounge, a Nigerian restaurant, lounge and event hall in Huddersfield, UK, and designed and built their website.

The site goes well beyond a digital menu: it handles online food orders, paid bookings for their Sunday buffet and private hire requests for their event space, all in one place.

The challenge

Dee’s started with a clear mission: make authentic African food in the UK something people can count on, with Nigerian recipes cooked the traditional way, generous portions and fair prices. But Dee’s isn’t just a restaurant. It’s also a lounge, a weekly Sunday buffet and an event hall for birthdays, naming ceremonies, church events and corporate functions. Each of those runs differently, and managing them through phone calls and messages alone meant missed bookings, guesswork in the kitchen and a lot of back and forth. They needed a brand that felt warm and proudly African, and a website that could take orders and bookings for every part of the business while giving the owner control over what gets confirmed.

The brand.

We designed a logo that captures what Dee’s is about: home-style Nigerian cooking with a welcoming, relaxed lounge feel. Paired with a deep green brand colour and decorative African-inspired flourishes, the identity feels rich and celebratory while staying clean and modern, so it works equally well on a takeaway bag, a social media post or the restaurant’s signage.

The product.

The website is built around the three ways people use Dee’s. For food, a full online menu with dish photos, descriptions and prices lets customers add items to a basket and order for delivery or collection, with allergens clearly listed on every dish to meet UK food safety expectations. For the Sunday buffet, customers choose a specific sitting from a live list showing how many seats remain, pay online at the time of booking through a secure payment provider, and can cancel within clear refund terms. Each sitting closes automatically once it’s full, so the kitchen knows exactly how many people to cook for. For private hire, event organisers pick a date, the number of hours, the type of event and guest count, and the request goes to the owner for approval before anything is confirmed, with a refundable deposit for overtime built into the process. Opening hours, a live open-or-closed status, WhatsApp and phone contact, and full privacy, terms, cookie and delivery policies round out a site that’s fully responsive and ready to run a real business.

The result

Dee’s now runs its restaurant, buffet and event hall from one website. Buffet bookings are prepaid, which reduces no-shows and food waste, and capacity is managed automatically instead of by hand. Event enquiries arrive with all the details the owner needs to make a decision, and online ordering opens the kitchen to customers across Huddersfield. A brand that started as a local restaurant now has the digital setup of a multi-venue hospitality business.

From our logo to our website, Cross Platform got us. The site handles our menu, Sunday buffet bookings and event hire all in one place, so we spend less time on the phone and the kitchen knows exactly who is coming. They’ve stayed with us after launch too, and our designs always look like Dee’s.
